Ishyan Veluppillai is a first-year at the University of Virginia. Ishyan plans to study economics and will apply to the McIntire School of Business in his sophomore year. Ishyan was the overall debate captain of the Broad Run High School Debate & Speech Team, leading a team of over 100 members. He also served as the Fundraising Chair of Broad Run’s Thirst Project chapter, raising over $10,000 in the last year. Ishyan has fostered a passion for history since a young age. His political icons include John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Pete Buttigieg.
